I am a Potter and have a little business called Glazing Wizard Pottery. I have always been surrounded and raised by extremely creative and strong women. So it came as no surprise that I followed in their artistic footsteps and I just so happen to be lucky enough to be thrusted into the world of pottery and fell in love. My work is mostly inspired by nature and I love giving it a dash of whimsy.

I am a retired automotive clay sculptor. I live in Houghton Lake, Michigan. I have been working with macrame and pottery as hobbies for a long time. My love for both art mediums has prompted me to find creative ways to combine the two together. So far I have designed art you can wear as jewelry and I am experimenting with ways to embellish clay pots with macrame and beads. Who knows what I will come up with next.

  • Anita Spencer

My fascination with glass bead making began in 1997, with the purchase of a kit and a how to book. I had no way of knowing at the time that what I believed to be a hobby, would lead me to a post-retirement career. Early on I became enamored with the melting of Italian, German, and US made rods of glass over a small torch flame. I have never lost my appreciation of the intricate and seemingly endless ways glass can be manipulated.

  • Veronique Hungerford

I have worked in three different countries (France, Germany, and the US) in multiple capacities from Executive Assistant in France to Sign Maker and Store Decorator for the Army and Air Force Exchange Service in Tennessee. I recently retired after 19 years as a High School Teacher.

I simply want to bring the outdoors indoors by creating natural dried flower arrangements. I absolutely love to repurpose items and creating a variety of wreaths using my own dried flowers, neutral yarn, Boho beads, and rings. These light and airy wreaths will compliment almost every decor.

  • June Campbell

I retired in 2004 when we sold a family owned and operated store in Ypsilanti that was fondly known as “The Cow” to the locals. Running a business left me no time to explore art. After retiring, I started spending the winter months in Arizona. I became involved in the art studios. I have worked with fused and stained glass, pottery, sculpting, both acrylic and oil painting. I frequently mix art mediums. I’m not one to make a dozen matching pieces, I like to create so no two are alike.

  • Barbara Asa

Growing up and spending summers hiking, boating, and fishing at my Grandparent’s northern Michigan cottage, created a lifetime love of our natural world. Enough so that my Bachelors and Masters of Science in Recreation and Park Administration and Environmental Education eventually led me to a teaching degree in science. The colors, style, and shapes of much of the pottery that I produce is a study of the reflections of nature that I find comforting.

I am the owner of this eclectic gift shop and live nearby in Clio. I attribute my first experience working with clay, at the age of seven, as my earliest influence. I made a clay mouse. That connection to the earth has remained with me over my lifetime. I have been making pottery for about 30 years and I never tire of the magic of turning a lump of clay into something useful and beautiful. Most of my work will have strong contrasts, such as black vs white, dull vs shiny, or maybe rough vs smooth. Enjoy your visit to The Studio Gift Gallery.
